ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Actress Zoe Saldana, in Cannes with the Guillaume Canet directed movie "Blood Ties", said on Tuesday (May 21) that she is excited for a change of direction and hopes to move behind the camera.
"Five years ago I didn't have ambitions. I'd just live day to day. It's not like I'm a happy go-lucky person, I am very determined. If I get an audition to go for a role that I really want I'm going to give 150 percent, but I was never the man with the plan. I'm never that kind of person, until recently, like maybe two years ago and it's only because of my desire to make that transition and become a director," she told Reuters.
Saldana hit the big time in Hollywood when she starred in James Cameron's "Avatar" and has since consolidated her success with the role of Uhura in the new "Star Trek" franchise.
The 34-year-old actress has already directed "Kaylien", an 18-minute short film, which starred Malin Akerman and Bradley Cooper.
