Facing rape allegations, the son of a prominent Chinese figure goes on trial at this court in Beijing Wednesday.
Seventeen-year-old Li Tianyi is among five men accused of gang raping a woman in a Beijing hotel last February.
His father General Li Shuangjiang and his mother are both famous singers for the People's Liberation Army.
The trial's being held behind closed doors -- but two state-run newspapers have blogged that Li has denied the charges.
They report that Li told the court he was drunk at the time of the alleged incident and had no knowledge of an assault.
This is not Li's first brush with the law.
He was sentenced to a year in juvenile detention for crashing his BMW into another car in 2011 and beating up the couple inside.
The case has inflamed public anger and drawn attention to China's political aristocrats who are widely viewed as corrupt and above the law.
