French troops in the Central African Republic are disarming residents after another retaliatory killing.

As troops comb through Bangui, the sectarian violence continues to fuel anger and resentment.

In the Combatant district, a Muslim man became the victim of an angry mob.

(SOUNDBITE) (French) RESIDENT OF COMBATANT, ABAKAR, SAYING:

"The Balaka came to kill him because he was the older brother of a Seleka general, who slept here. That's why they did this. It's the resentment because he was sheltering the Seleka general here."

The killing comes after the United Nations Security Council approved the deployment of around 500 European troops.

Those troops will join the 1,600 French troops and the 5,000 African Union peacekeepers already there.

At least 2,000 people have been killed in the unrest.
