Lights Camera Cure: The Hollywood Dance Marathon is a 6-hour dance party/charity event at the historic Avalon Theater in the heart of Hollywood. The event features live entertainment (bands, musicians, DJ, etc.) performing for supporters who have signed up to dance and raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research and treatment. Of course, the Hollywood locale is complete with a Red Carpet, celebrities & VIPs, a silent auction and more. The event is hosted by the Penn State Los Angeles Alumni Chapter (PSULA) and Lights Camera Cure Corp., a CA non-profit.
In its first two years, the event has donated over $100,000 to the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital. This year, Lights Camera Cure is also partnering with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, a member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, to make this the first bicoastal dance marathon fundraiser.
Lights Camera Cure was founded by a group of alumni from Penn State University living in Los Angeles. The group was inspired by THON, the Penn State Student Dance Marathon held at the school's campus each February that has raised over $100 million for the Four Diamonds Fund in its 40-year history
In January 2012, 75 dancers, 500 guests, 50 volunteers, numerous musical acts, celebrities, and sponsors came together to make the inaugural event a huge success. A donation of $37,411 was issued to the Four Diamonds Fund.
In 2013, over 650 people attended the 2nd Hollywood Dance Marathon, hosted by TV & film stars Devon Werkheiser and Gia Mantegna. The event also featured musical performances by Drake Bell, VanJess, Kait Weston, Bex, The Cannoneers, Reign Morton and Devon Werkheiser. A donation of $67,851 was issued to the Four Diamonds Fund.
In 2014, Lights Camera Cure partnered with Children's Hospital Los Angeles, a member of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Proceeds from the event will benefit both Children's Hospital Los Angeles and the Four Diamonds Fund, making this the first bicoastal dance marathon fundraiser.
