(SOUNDBITE) (French) FORMER FRENCH PRESIDENT NICOLAS SARKOZY SAYING:

"so, I thought about it, and told myself that not only do I want to but I have no other choice. I must give back to my country a part of all it has given me"

Sarkozy lost the 2012 election to current president Francois Hollande.

"I think he deserves it and that he needs take action if he wants to increase his popularity."

During a news conference last week Hollande promised to work hard until the end of his term in 2017 but it might be too little
