Urban poet of Gwada (Guadeloupe) living actually in Paris France, Mawsi Khai mixed his Caribbean influences to electronic music with psychedelic funk vibes, a sound called slam-ka-modenn (inspired by the Caribbean word “gwo-ka modenn”, the gwo-ka is the roots music of Gwada and modenn means modern). Mawsi Khai’s forthcoming album titled Yo La, was made with the help of the composers N’pol and Dj pHonie, and also with other musicians who a few come from his zwenks metal band : D-FE, (now u realise that this guy is an alien !). In solo, Mawsi Khai doesn’t make pure noise like in his rock band (but he’s still an alien!), and spiritual, political and poetic lyrics are associated to a music with many influences, but if u are a little open-minded, you will realise that all these influences become one.
