PRESENTED BY JOANNE COLLINS
PRODUCED BY JOHN HOUGH & JOANNE COLLINS
Benjamin Wetherbee is a college student at Skidmore College, an Old Time fiddler, and a harmonica player from Watertown, Massachusetts, just next to Boston. He is finishing up his year abroad at University College Cork, where he studies history and mathematics. Cursed from an early age, he got Old Time music from his mother and Rock and Roll from his father. Since arriving in Cork in August, he has travelled and played throughout Ireland and parts of Europe, including London, Paris, and Amsterdam, including a gig off Dingle. Back home, he plays with various groups in college and with his family. He can be reached at bwetherb@skidmore.edu
On guitar, Camilla Monroe, Cork based musician and lover of all things old time. Camilla and Ben have jammed together since October 2014 and have played American Old time music in a number of venues around Cork City this year. Camilla also sings traditional 19th and 20th century murder ballads originating from both sides of the pond.
Brendan Butler has been with the Lee Valley String Band since 1996. Before that Brendan spent eight years in Louisville and Nashville soaking up all the bluegrass and country music he could, and working on his distinctive "high lonesome" style.
He gives an equal nod to the original masters like Bill Monroe, as he does to the more contemporary greats like Lyle Lovett, Tim O'Brien and Amos Lee.
Since 2013 Brendan has played regularly with Sara Corkery, developing their own sound, adding some original material and building their unique blend of vocal and musical gold.
