The mostly Muslim Russian region of Chechnya opened its first ever women-only beach in the Grozny Sea tourist complex on Tuesday. Hundreds of women attended the opening ceremony of the new beach, as the temperatures in Grozny soared to 40 degrees Celsius during the week. A six-foot (1.82 metre) fence was built around the beach so that women could have a place to cool off during the scorching summer months.
