On Sunday, Russians will vote in regional elections – a poll with almost no opposition candidates. The city of Kostroma, 320 kilometres northeast of Moscow, is the only place where blogger Alexei Navalny and former prime minister Mikhail Kassyanov’s RPR Parnas democratic coalition was allowed to register candidates. Authorities have rejected their applications everywhere else. According to Kremlin critics the rejections were orchestrated.
