Varun Dhawan, who will essay the role of a besotted lover, who goes all out to fight for his love, in Karan Johar's upcoming film Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania claims that he has fought for love in real life as well. At the trailer launch of the film when the young actor was asked if he has ever fought for love in real life, he said, "Yes I have fought for love."But before he could say anything else, Karan quickly added, "Varun fights for love every week." His response was met with laughter and applause from the film's cast as well as the media. Varun also laughed but he further added, "No when you are fighting for love it's a bit serious. When I was in college I was in love with this girl and her father didn't want me to be with her because he knew that I was getting into films. So he told me that he was a heart patient and that they come from a very decent family and that I should back off because they wanted to get her married. So I told him sir nothing will happen to you, let us at least try." "But eventually I think the girl only didn't fight enough and she went away, otherwise I would have been married by now," he concluded. Varun will be seen romancing Alia Bhatt in HSKD, which has been directed by Shashank Khaitan.
