The Gowda families of Kundavada have not been celebrating Ugadi for almost three centuries. They celebrate the festival only if a male child is born in the house or a pet animal gives birth to a male child.
Villagers of Shambohalli also donot celebrate this festival since youth died due to snake bite when he went to bring neem for the festival.
