So Spike has wings now? Well, there goes my theory of him as a water type..actually no as Dratini grows into dragon wings. The fact that a dragon can grow up in 2 different fashions is an interesting lore piece.
If Rarity hadn't reached him would Spike never molt then? Smolder telling him about "this Molt Effect" was a good choice but I have to wonder what Ember would've said.
PeeWee is all grown now! Firstly I am still disappointed that Spike gave him back off screen (remember those photos had Twi mad over a mess and the very next photo was of Spike returning PeeWee?) but it's very good to see he wasn't forgotten. Secondly, his feathers caused Rarity to go deaf akin to Poison Joke? I wonder if this is why Fluttershy was never shown with her feather back in S1...
Overall I liked this Ep! It adds to the dragon's lore that the ponies would never had known (will we ever get to see how they got Spike's egg? I think they rectoned that little backstory. As you can plainly see Twi's test to enter Celestia's school was to hatch a dragon, with a picture to even show how to do so.
If that was a common entry test there'd be dozens of dragons in Canterlot) and it builds Spike's character progression quite well with the foreshadowing of him growing up not completely over.
