Mount Agung Erupts, Emitting Thick Plume of Volcanic Ash

Mount Agung in Bali erupted on Monday morning, July 2, at around 6:20 am local time, days after a series of eruptions last week forced the closure of three airports.The volcano erupted for three minutes and 47 seconds, emitting a thick plume of volcanic ash reaching 6,500 feet above sea level, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho, spokesman of Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency, said on July 2.“The volcanic ash doesn’t spread.
