It was assumed that earthquake was the reason for the landslides in Kodagu but director of Geology institue Dr.Vineet Gehlot has clarified regarding this.
ಕೊಡಗು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಂಟಾದ ಭೂಕುಸಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಭೂಕಂಪ ಕಾರಣ ಎಂದು ಊಹಿಸಲಾಗಿತ್ತು ಆದರೆ ಭೂಕಂಪಕ್ಕೂ ಭೂಕುಸಿತಕ್ಕೂ ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಭೂವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಡಾ. ವಿನೀತ್ ಗೆಲ್ಹೋಟ್ ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
