The government has decided to exempt basics customs duty on import of COVID-19 vaccines, and the basic customs duty and health cess on import of medical grade oxygen and other equipment related to providing oxygen to patients, for a period of three months.

దేశంలో సెకండ్ వేవ్ కరోనా మహమ్మారి విజృంభిస్తున్నవేళ ప్రజలపై పడుతున్న భారాన్ని తగ్గించేందుకు కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం కీలక నిర్ణయం తీసుకుంది. దేశంలో ఆక్సిజన్ కొరత తీవ్రంగా ఉన్న విషయం తెలిసిందే. అదే సమయంలో పలు రాష్ట్రాల్లో కరోనా వ్యాక్సిన్ కొరత కూడా వేధిస్తోంది. ఈ క్రమంలోనే కేంద్రం తీసుకున్న నిర్ణయంతో కాస్త ఉపశమనం కలుగనుంది. ఆక్సిజన్, కరోనా వ్యాక్సిన్, ఇతర కరోనా సంబంధిత వైద్య పరికరాలు, ఔషధాలపై దిగుమతి సుంకాన్ని మూడు నెలలపాటు మాఫీ చేసింది.
