Since August 31 last year, nine bodies of young men have been awaiting burial in the Churachandpur town of Manipur. They were allegedly killed in police action while protesting three controversial bills passed by the state assembly earlier in the day. For a state that saw a rare form of protest that used the body as its tool - when 12 women disrobed in front of Kangla Fort in 2004 to resist alleged excesses by security forces, this is yet another instance of human body being used as an instrument of protest. A team of reporters from The Wire visited the state on August 31 this year to bring to you a comprehensive view of what has been unfolding on the ground during the last one year.

The Wire has also reported on the issue earlier this month. For more details, read http://thewire.in/64758/manipur-churachandpur-hill-valley-inner-line-permit/
