At the Ramnath Goenka Awards, which is organised annually by the Indian Express to celebrate outstanding work in print, web, and broadcast journalism, Indian Express' editor-in-chief made some sharp comments during his brief speech. PM Modi was the chief guest at the event, and Jha’s comments are being praised by many as speaking “truth to power”. The BJP’s distaste for journalists who question the party’s narrative is well known, and the PM made no effort to mask that with some bizarre comments about how he thinks journalism has changed.
