The National Prosecuting Authority plans to oppose bail. It's also instituted a process to extradite eight of the accused, who are currently abroad. Gupta associate Iqbal Sharma and his co-accused, Free State Agriculture and Rural Development head, Peter Thabethe are expected to apply for bail this hour in the Bloemfontein Magistrate's Court. They are among 17 accused who face charges related to the defrauding of the Department. It concerns a R25 million tender that was allegedly awarded irregularly to one of Sharma's companies.
