00:00 It is a war that uses many generations of weapons.
00:05 Here in Bamut it isn't modern cluster bombs that the United States has now given to Ukraine
00:11 that are at work.
00:12 Rather simple cannons to advance metre by metre in their grinding counter-offensive.
00:17 "In our part of the front, Western support has made no impact.
00:22 We were using old Soviet weapons.
00:25 So in that sense, the West did not help us.
00:27 But on the whole, the more support we get, the faster we finish the job."
00:32 Weapons and the money for them continue to roll in.
00:35 The EU's foreign policy chief launched a long-term 20 billion euro fund, even if negotiations
00:41 and the details still need to be ironed out.
00:44 "We propose the creation of a dedicated section under the European peace facility to provide
00:51 up to 5 billion euros a year for the next four years."
00:55 As for Washington, it unveiled an $800 million military aid package earlier this month.
01:01 It includes the shipment of cluster bombs.
01:04 These highly controversial munitions have been outlawed by more than 100 states because
01:09 they scatter bomblets.
01:11 Which if they don't explode initially, they can kill civilians long after the war is over.
01:16 The US national security spokesperson John Kirby confirmed in an audio interview that
01:21 Ukraine is now using the American weaponry.
01:24 "They're using them appropriately, they're using them effectively, and they are actually
01:29 having an impact."
01:31 As for Russia, it's doubling down with attacks on Ukrainian ports.
01:35 It also carried out a live-fire exercise in the Black Sea.
01:39 And threatened that any ship travelling to Ukraine could be considered a military target,
01:44 now that Moscow's refused to renew a grain transportation deal.
