00:00 Growth and development can only take root if opportunities for them are put in place,
00:05 such as more infrastructure down under in Mindanao, whose potential for growth is astounding.
00:11 A point the president drove in on his trip to the Zamboanga Peninsula today to lead the
00:16 inauguration of three core projects under the Mindanao Growth Corridor Program.
00:21 Our Alan Francisco tells us more.
00:23 As the rest of these structures reach completion, they embody the promise and commitment of
00:31 the government to push infrastructure development beyond our metropolitan areas.
00:38 Infrastructure development should not just be centered in cities, but also in the countryside
00:43 and far-lung areas.
00:45 This was the message of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. when he visited Alicia Zamboanga-Sebugay
00:50 for the inauguration of three core projects under the Improving Growth Corridors in the
00:55 Mindanao Road Sector Project.
00:57 After four years since it started, finally we are here to open the three core projects
01:04 that have originally formed the backbone of the IGC-MRSP.
01:11 I would like to note that these projects have expanded from their original scope to include
01:17 additional road and bridge developments across the Zamboanga Peninsula out to Tawi-Tawi.
01:24 The three core projects span a total 69.07 kilometers, including 11 bridges.
01:30 These include the Alicia Malangas Road and Lutiman Guicam Olotanga Road, which are both
01:36 located in Zamboanga-Sebugay, and the Tampilisan-Sandayong Road in Zamboanga del Norte.
01:42 The project is expected to accelerate the development of infrastructure in the Zamboanga
01:46 Peninsula and delivery of assistance to residents there.
01:50 Because of this, President Marcos is confident the project will help spur the Zamboanga economy
01:56 and bring lasting peace and order to Mindanao.
01:59 At the same time, there is also the extension of the Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia-Malaysia,
02:05 Philippines-East ASEAN Growth Area Road Network.
02:07 "The reason that the Bimpiaga is important, we can see and hear that the problems that
02:17 the economies are facing, not just in the Philippines, but the economies around the
02:22 world, are the so-called supply chain problems."
02:26 The President also thanked the Asian Development Bank for its support for the project.
02:31 President Marcos also promised government to continue to build roads, bridges, ports,
02:36 and airports in the country.
02:38 "Improved physical connectivity will always be a vital facet of our development efforts,
02:44 as outlined in this administration's Philippine Development Plan and the Eight Points Socioeconomic
02:50 Agenda.
02:52 That is why this government is more determined than ever to pursue projects that will recognize
02:57 our dream of a stronger and more interconnected Philippines."
03:01 Alan Francisco, for the Nation.
