00:00 Well, the current dance alliance is hosting their seventh annual books in
00:04 motion program made to improve literacy throughout Kern County through dance.
00:08 23 abc's ever Kirshner joins us live in studio to tell us more about this
00:12 week's books in motion spotlight. Yeah, that's right. Brian J and M Dance
00:17 Center is one of the groups performing in the current dance alliances, books
00:20 in motion program and in their spotlight, you'll see how their love
00:23 of dance brings big smiles to everyone's faces.
00:28 It's so phenomenal. Those cheerful faces represent J and M Dance Center,
00:33 a dance group into Hatchaby coming down from the mountain multiple times this
00:37 month to perform in books in motion. Director and owner Mindy Sheffelbein
00:42 says the trip isn't a hassle but an honor. We were super excited about the
00:46 opportunity to be involved in books in motion. We love the idea of promoting
00:50 literacy through sharing our passion for dance and getting to inspire the
00:55 Children to read and to get out and move and learn to dance by bringing the
01:00 stories to life. They help Children understand the books without having to
01:03 read them and they represent characters through their movement and choreography.
01:07 The dancers at J and M tell me the best part about performing in books in
01:11 motion are the kids reaction. I think watching all the kids and like seeing
01:17 them be inspired by what we're doing and them getting excited about reading
01:22 and about dancing is really special to me. So definitely the kids for sure.
01:26 They're always very excited to see the dancing and it encourages them to read
01:31 more, which is why we're doing this whole thing in the first place and it's
01:34 really fun. And when it comes to dancing, they gave it their all trying to teach
01:40 me some moves. Step the other way. Step left. That was my favorite part.
