00:00 Some parts of Valenzuela City are still submerged in the flood.
00:04 Some residents are returning home even though their houses are already destroyed.
00:09 Maki Polido was able to talk live.
00:11 Tom, here in Valenzuela, many evacuees have returned home.
00:22 From 300 families, only 194 families are currently staying in evacuation centers.
00:31 The family of Gerubin was able to return home to San Andres Street, Barangay Malanday, Valenzuela City.
00:43 The house was hit by strong winds and the walls and floor were broken.
00:51 But instead of staying in the evacuation center, the family returned home to find a way to sleep.
00:59 We are just going to sleep a little bit. It's embarrassing to sleep in the neighbor's house.
01:08 Even though they don't have food, they helped to fix the house.
01:13 They covered the broken wall with wood and plywood.
01:17 And because of the budget, they will sleep here for now.
01:21 We will cover it with wood and plywood.
01:25 We will put a blanket here so it won't rain.
01:33 It has been more than a week since the flood hit San Andres Street.
01:37 But most of the residents did not evacuate.
01:39 Many residents, like the family of Marites Consuta, are struggling to pay for their house, like the kitchen and living room.
01:47 Because of the impact of the flood on the work of the housekeepers and their children,
01:53 their daily income is affected.
01:55 They are now stuck in the budget of buying food.
01:59 We are just taking care of the children because we can afford to take care of them.
02:07 You can see behind me, there are still some areas of MacArthur Highway,
02:17 particularly in the area of Barangay Dalandanan.
02:20 There are also areas in the boundary of Barangay Malanday and Kawayan Bulacan.
02:24 But you can also see that it is passable for vehicles.
02:28 What is not passable is G. Lazaro Street, which is the so-called bypass of Vente Reales.
02:34 Because the flood depth is almost two feet.
02:39 Thank you very much, Mackie Pulido.
