00:00 officials from Nevada and California are collaborating to combat and protect
00:04 residents as the York fire continues to burn near the state line. Reporter
00:08 Shakira Hawkins has an update. There's a haze, nothing you can't see ahead. I
00:14 mean, you can't see the mountain for nearly four days now. Smoke and haze
00:18 have persistent affecting residents and travelers near the Mojave National
00:22 Preserve area and San Bernardino County. That's scary. Fire takes over and you
00:27 can't control it. Specimens I went so people's lives are, you know, at stake.
00:32 The people fighting the fires, it's hazard fire and wind is not mixed. On
00:36 monday, officials established a command post at Prim Valley Convention Center.
00:41 Mark people's with intra agency incident management says sunday's
00:46 monsoon winds slow down the fire. The fire is still at 77,000 acres as of
00:51 this morning. It's 0% contained, although we're hopeful that we're
00:55 going to get some containment here over the next several hours and into
00:59 tomorrow and the following days. People says the exact location of the fire is
01:03 about 10 to 15 miles from searchlight and an area called Creston Peak. 260
01:09 personnel are engaged in fighting the fire operating on day and night shifts.
01:13 This is a full suppression fire, 100% full suppression. The guys are going
01:18 after it really, really hard. Um, you know, but also with that, you know,
01:21 we're in the National Preserve, right? And so that's delicate land, right?
01:26 It's, it's, it's, it's got a lot of, um, cultural, it's got a lot of
01:30 environmental, a lot of unique ecosystems, those types of things. Uh,
01:34 and so we're being light on the land with our tactics. You know, we're not
01:37 going in there with bulldozers and going crazy.
