00:00 Hi Barbie!
00:01 Hi Ken!
00:02 In less than three weeks, Barbie has sailed past the $1 billion milestone in global box
00:07 office ticket sales faster than any film in the history of Warner Bros, the studio behind
00:13 the hit.
00:14 OK ladies, let's do this!
00:16 At the helm, Oscar-nominated writer and director Greta Gerwig is the first woman to surpass
00:21 the billion dollar benchmark as a solo director.
00:24 We had such joy making it that I feel like, OK, if people have half as much fun watching
00:35 it as we did making it, it'll be great.
00:38 So far it has hit that mark.
00:40 Starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film follows Barbie as she contends with her
00:45 woman-led fantasy land becoming infected with real world problems and has tapped into a
00:50 cultural zeitgeist.
00:51 It's not just a movie for ladies or girls.
00:54 I loved how they made commentary on both sides of the gender spectrum.
00:58 Also like an existential dread.
01:00 I feel like it's very timely.
01:01 I love the diversity.
01:02 I love the concept about life and death and then like what it's like in the real world
01:06 and woman empowerment.
01:09 Barbie becomes the 53rd movie to have made over $1 billion in box office history, beating
01:15 its summer box office rival, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, which for its part has grossed
01:20 over $500 million globally in three weeks.
01:24 This is our near zero.
