00:00 So here at Deakdale where Sunderland have been beaten 2-1 by Preston North End, their
00:04 second league defeat of the season. Phil, how much of a concern is it that Sunderland
00:09 are now two defeatable two?
00:12 Yeah, it is a big concern because it's the same game where in some ways I'm relatively
00:17 comfortable that Sunderland are going to be alright. I thought large parts of the performance
00:22 they were really good. Roberts and Clyde were back to their best. I mean they tortured Preston's
00:26 wings back in time, they were fantastic. But they're not making the most of them and so
00:30 you have to be concerned because at the moment that's not getting corrected. And as long
00:33 as that persists, you know, Sunderland will lose games when they're not taking their chances.
00:36 So I'm not like panicking, I'm not thinking 'Oh wow, this could turn out to be a long
00:40 hard season'. I think the football's still good and there's lots to be positive about
00:43 but, you know, there's a reason why they have lost the two games, their lack of confidence.
00:47 Yeah, you mentioned that Clonedge again. Bradley Dax started up front today, today in the number
00:52 of kind of a false nine with Emere dropping to the bench. How do you think that did and
00:56 how do you think that kind of worked out? He did okay. He looks to me like he needs
01:00 to play his bounce off. He clearly hasn't got the pace to sort of run in behind. And
01:05 I think there were times where he was dropping too deep because that's obviously his game.
01:08 And I think that, listen, it didn't work today but the fact of the matter is you can't pick
01:13 Emere every week. You know, we know physically it's been a huge step up for him coming to
01:17 Sunderland. The pressing demands, which he's not used to in Benfica's B team, didn't play
01:22 much last year. And so you can't expect him to play 90 games every week, 90 minutes every
01:26 week. So he can't play 90 games every week. So, yeah, tough decision, didn't work. I understand
01:31 why Mowbray did it and it all comes back to the fact that you need someone through the
01:35 door who lives in that six yard box. That's the difference at the moment.
01:39 Yeah, it was just a game of another five margins really again, wasn't it? I thought Sunderland
01:42 reacted quite well after going behind in the first half. Got back level with the penalty
01:46 there in the second half, just struggled to get going and then that goal around the hour
01:50 mark saw Preston take all three points. Well, you can find more reaction over on the SCFC
01:55 section of the Sunderland Echo website to today's game and then we'll have build up
02:00 to next weekend's match, Sunderland back at the Stadium of Light. They're at home to
02:03 Rotherham next Saturday.
