00:00 The Department of Justice is now in charge of the ongoing settlement of the missing soap operators.
00:07 Luisa Erispe has more.
00:09 It's been more than a year since the missing soap operators case in the country was filed.
00:16 It's becoming clear now what the use of blood money is
00:20 to just arrange the families in the case.
00:24 Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said they received a report that some families are being paid to withdraw the complaint.
00:34 This is one of the cases where the missing soap operators, John Claude Inonog, withdrew their complaint.
00:43 One of the family members was here earlier, non-cumital, but to tell us that they had settled already.
00:52 We have records of them withdrawing the cases.
00:57 But you can see the strategy of the lawyers in the case number one.
01:02 It was really to have the only standing case with a standing warrant of arrest dismissed by settling the families, settling with the families.
01:16 The PTV is trying to get the statement of Inonog's father, Butch Inonog.
01:21 But there's still no answer if they really withdrew the complaint.
01:26 But DOJ said that the case of Inonog is not yet being thoroughly dismissed by the panel.
01:31 But it weakened the case against the respondents and the complaint of other families was also affected.
01:39 Case number one is the only case with which a warrant of arrest was issued against suspects related to the Manila arena.
01:49 But this is very alarming because it is the only case where the accused group of Patidongan and Company are implicated in the missing soap operators cases.
02:02 Other families of missing soap operators were also dismayed when they faced the DOJ because of the withdrawal of case number one.
02:10 For them, they have been waiting for justice for a long time, so it is painful for them to have a decision of withdrawal of the family.
02:18 It's a big question for us why. Because from the start, they started the fight.
02:24 We only gave them strength because they have strong evidence.
02:30 For us, it's like nothing. So we really don't know why, what's the reason.
02:37 That case is the one we are most expecting because it's also one where there's a warrant, it's also one of the cases we are suing.
02:45 We have been talking about it since the beginning that we will fight the gangsters.
02:52 For now, the DOJ promised that they will not let go of other complaints that families of missing soap operators are being accused.
03:00 They have asked for a written report from the National Bureau of Investigation and PNP-CIDG for the investigation.
03:08 But definitely something has to happen with regards to the police organization on how they handle the case.
03:15 Because if we are not satisfied, we will handle it in a different way so that the case will still move.
03:21 Louisa Erispe, for the nation.
03:24 Parasabaya!
