00:00 Now that the school year is almost over,
00:02 the teachers and parents are preparing for the match against Dengue.
00:06 And the witness is Lea Viss.
00:08 The teachers and parents are busy cleaning the schools
00:16 for the opening of classes next week.
00:19 Just like Camonig Elementary School in Quezon City
00:22 where almost 2,000 students are expected to return to school.
00:27 We are trying to make sure that the bathrooms, containers, cans,
00:30 and other things that Dengue can live in are clean.
00:35 We are trying to make sure that the classrooms are clean.
00:38 The parents are also busy discarding their children
00:41 so that they can be far from the dust that Dengue brings.
00:44 I just clean it and lotion it to avoid Dengue.
00:48 In school, I just need long socks.
00:52 DOH said that Dengue cases are increasing every rainy season.
00:56 That's why it's important to clean the surroundings
00:59 and remove any possible dust.
01:02 It's spreading during the day.
01:04 Classes are already starting.
01:05 So the kids are already moving from their house,
01:08 to the car, to school, and back.
01:12 They can be bitten by the mosquito anywhere along that route.
01:15 Not all of them are caught in the house.
01:17 It's spreading, so it's important to give them a clean spot.
01:22 Dengue is a symptom of a disease that includes headaches,
01:26 coughs, rashes, eye and body pain.
01:29 According to DOH,
01:30 more than 90,000 people have been infected with Dengue
01:33 from January to July.
01:35 It's even lower than 22% compared to the same time last year.
