00:00 There's a good chance you heard the news today about Jeff Bezos being the next potential
00:03 Washington Commander Football Team owner.
00:05 But what you might have not heard is he's not looking to buy the team for his love of
00:08 football.
00:09 Instead, it's the power and influence that comes with it which is what he's really after.
00:12 If Bezos ends up owning the team, there's no doubt that he'll be treating plenty of
00:15 politicians to the home games in the nation's capital.
00:18 This is a huge deal when you consider just how much Amazon is impacted by the decisions
00:21 that politicians make.
00:22 And here's the crazy part.
00:24 Amazon is already the largest spender on corporate lobbying last year and is on track to be the
00:27 largest this year too.
00:29 The reason I'm telling you this is because I tracked corporate lobbying of stocks on
00:32 my website and figured out that companies which spend the most on lobbying consistently
00:35 outperform the overall stock market.
00:37 It also doesn't hurt that the last 8 trades of Amazon stock by politicians were all buys.
00:41 So what's the takeaway here?
00:43 Amazon already has a ton of power in DC and if Bezos manages to get his hands on the commanders,
00:47 his influence over Washington will only grow larger.
00:49 To see how much companies like Amazon are spending on lobbying and for what, check out
00:52 QuiverQuant and thanks for watching.
