00:00 Not one minute to lose for Lamia.
00:03 As soon as she learned of the opening of this collection point, she crossed the Belgian
00:07 capital to drop off her donations for the victims of the earthquake.
00:12 Since this weekend, the heart of this Brussels resident of Moroccan origin has been beating
00:16 for Marrakech.
00:17 "I couldn't not come and not do something for my country.
00:21 Everyone wants to help with whatever means we have."
00:25 It's the same motivation for most of these residents.
00:28 Brussels has one of the largest Moroccan communities in Europe.
00:31 "Of course it affects us.
00:34 It's our country, it's our nation.
00:36 Our second country because we're also Belgian."
00:40 After dropping off some blankets this morning, this young woman from Molenbeek even decided
00:44 to stay and help sort the donations.
00:47 "We felt quite helpless not being on site.
00:52 After seeing it on social media, we just had to come and help."
00:55 "Put the sleeping bags here."
00:58 Right now, volunteers prefer certain types of donations, like these 500 flashlights left
01:04 by a local merchant.
01:05 "We also called on these merchants for generators.
01:09 We know that it's on site for future searches, but also to power villages or a few houses.
01:14 These generators are very important, just like the tents, sleeping bags, beds and mattresses."
01:20 Those are donations that could be sent in the coming days.
01:23 However, Morocco has not yet requested emergency assistance from Belgium.
01:28 "We were very surprised that the international aid was limited to the four countries which
01:32 received accreditation.
01:34 But I don't doubt for a single moment that given the scale of the needs, we will expand
01:37 this as quickly as possible."
01:41 While waiting for the green light from Rabat, citizen mobilization continues throughout
01:45 Belgium, where many cities have set up collections of basic necessities.
01:49 - Thank you. - Thank you.
