00:02 God has put me on Earth to save your soul.
00:06 Once outside those gates, I cannot guarantee your safety.
00:11 [music]
00:12 The whole subject matter of the series can be wrapped up in one word.
00:16 That's ambition.
00:17 [music]
00:18 This season is turning on the hinge where you realize that you have to make hard choices
00:23 if you want to stay committed to that ambition.
00:25 [music]
00:26 One of the themes this season is civilization catching up with hell on wheels
00:31 as it leaves towns in its path.
00:34 So characters that you know and love are for the first time being
00:38 confronted with the prospect of consequences.
00:42 You will be forgotten.
00:45 [music]
00:46 Colin Bohannon is in the worst possible place that we could imagine to put him.
00:52 Let go of Cheyenne, your former life.
00:56 Not only was Colin not a talented farmer, I don't think he was a talented family man.
01:00 Here he is in another family situation and I think he's scared to death.
01:04 He's having to choose between his new family and the railroad.
01:09 You can leave, Colin.
01:12 There is some sort of love that has formed from Colin to Naomi.
01:16 As far as my character is involved in this season,
01:19 it's definitely bringing out a new side in Colin.
01:23 This season we see Colin and Durant almost crossing paths in their world philosophy.
01:29 Colin becomes a more thoughtful person where Durant kind of reverts back to a more dark side.
01:37 I am capable of anything.
01:40 [music]
01:43 Durant is up against evil in the form of governmental oversight in the form of John Campbell.
01:50 First my own company sends you to spy on me.
01:54 And now, the government.
01:57 John Campbell is historically the first governor of Wyoming.
02:01 Campbell's all about power.
02:03 He believes that power is best used for the humiliation of other men.
02:07 He probably has psychopathic tendencies.
02:09 Now that doesn't mean he's murderous.
02:11 That means that he doesn't have much of a conscience.
02:15 It's wild, surely.
02:17 But so is an unbroken horse.
02:19 We'll break it.
02:21 [music]
02:23 I had me a vision.
02:25 Season four, I think it's going to become about what the railroad could mean for humanity.
02:31 And so there's a lot more conflict.
02:33 [music]
02:35 And a lot more law coming into play.
02:38 The new town offers a lot more opportunity.
02:41 How are these characters going to achieve these goals?
02:45 Be they for good or bad, I don't know.
02:48 [music]
02:50 This concept of the West that is about independence and freedom.
02:54 What happens to that when structure is imposed?
02:58 And that's going to play out in a pretty interesting way this season.
03:02 [music]
03:04 You better shoot the kill.
03:06 I'm coming back to finish this once and for all.
03:09 [music]
