00:00 In celebration of the new year,
00:02 the government has increased the water supply of Manila and Manila Water
00:05 which will be used to continue the water supply in Metro Manila.
00:10 But in Manila, more than 40 barangays lost their water supply
00:14 because of a broken pipe.
00:16 Here is my report.
00:17 There's a water pulse.
00:20 Flood and heavy traffic.
00:24 That's what the barangay health worker, Jocelyn, should be facing
00:28 when she went to work earlier but was forced to absent because she didn't take a bath.
00:34 She is one of the residents of more than 40 barangays in Manila
00:38 who lost their water supply after the pipe in front of San Lorenzo Luis Catholic Center burst.
00:45 The water in Legarda Avenue and several nearby communities burst.
00:49 The Manila Water Tanker first went around the area.
00:52 Even though the flood came from the water in the pipe,
00:56 the traffic was still heavy because the eastbound lane of Legarda was closed
01:00 to the Santa Mesa from Menjola.
01:03 The Manila Water Tanker was forced to close the road to fix the pipe.
01:07 This could be the so-called water pressure surge
01:13 that caused the breakage of some of our pipes.
01:18 Based on leak detection and assessment,
01:20 the 4-meter segment in the broken primary line needs to be replaced.
01:24 The target is to have the water supply back by tomorrow afternoon.
01:28 If the broken pipe is bad news,
01:31 the water supply in Enero will not be welcomed.
01:35 The MWSS Regulatory Office approved the water supply
01:39 that will be provided to projects that will provide continuous water services.
01:44 For the customers of Manila,
01:46 the bill is added to the bill every month if the consumption is 10 cubic meters less.
01:53 For the customers of Manila Water,
01:55 the bill is added to the bill every month if the consumption is 10 cubic meters less.
02:00 For the projects that are being implemented,
02:02 the new water sources are being added.
02:05 If we don't make this tariff adjustment, we might have problems.
02:10 The MWSS is assuring that there will be no water crisis in 2024
02:15 even if the effects of the El Nino are felt.
