00:00 Rudy Giuliani lied about election workers, and now a judge wants him to pay up.
00:04 On Wednesday, federal judge Beryl A. Howell ordered the former New York mayor to immediately
00:09 pay $148 million to Ruby Freeman and Shea Moss, two Georgia election workers whom Giuliani falsely
00:16 accused of fraud in the 2020 election. The judge ordered him to pay the money immediately because
00:20 he might "conceal his assets otherwise." Giuliani had spread misinformation about Freeman and Moss
00:26 online as well as at a Georgia state senate hearing, as part of his efforts to help overturn
00:30 Donald Trump's laws. But after Freeman and Moss sued him for defamation, he eventually admitted
00:35 in court papers that his statements were false. Freeman and Moss, who are mother and daughter,
00:40 emotionally recounted how the attacks on them had impacted their lives.
00:43 "I can never move back into the house that I call home. I will always have to be careful
00:53 about where I go and who I choose to share my name with."
00:58 But in his public comments, Giuliani remained defiant.
01:02 "I am quite confident when this case gets before a fair tribunal, it'll be reversed so quickly,
01:09 it'll make your head spin, and the absurd number that just came in will help that actually."
01:15 Despite the judge's order, it's not clear if Giuliani will actually be able to pay up.
01:20 In September, he was sued over unpaid legal fees related to a variety of different issues.
