00:00 Her 10-day visit to the country just flew. No sooner did she arrive and United Nations special
00:06 rapporteur Irene Khan is off to when she came and the Philippine government was more than glad to
00:12 accommodate to her wishes to meet with heads of agencies and had a free hand and mind to discuss opinions and
00:19 share insights on government policy on press freedom.
00:23 Khan also took the time to engage with at least 10 house solons and seven judges from the Supreme Court.
00:30 She offered her recommendations on policies on press freedom and
00:34 also took up and hashed over issues such as red tagging and decriminalization of libel.
00:40 There were some discussions about red tagging and about the status of the National Task Force LCAP and we
00:49 relayed to her that number one, the government does not have a policy on red tagging.
00:54 We do not condone or encourage red tagging and in fact, there is no
00:59 government order,
01:02 policy issuance or law that makes red tagging a policy of government. So we relayed this to her and
01:09 we said to her that there are legal remedies available for people who feel that they are aggrieved.
01:17 Thank you.
