00:00 The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will be in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl,
00:04 but they're not the only ones. The city hosts one of the biggest events of the year on February 11th
00:09 and the New York Times reports that about a thousand private planes will be arriving.
00:12 The Live Golf Tournament will be there as well, which only adds to the wealthy traffic.
00:16 Business Insider says the city only has 500 parking spaces for the vehicles,
00:20 which means many private travelers will have to simply be dropped off.
00:24 Pop star Taylor Swift, girlfriend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelsey,
00:28 will be arriving from Japan on Sunday. And even she apparently won't have a parking spot for her
00:33 plane, though the New York Post says the NFL will provide her with a place to land.
00:36 And all this air travel raises concerns about climate change.
00:39 Benjamin Leffel, assistant professor at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, told the Times,
00:44 "The emissions levels of a mega-event like this from air traffic and the
00:47 energy use is at least double in a day than it would be on average."
