00:00 It's been more than 100 days since the fighting began in Gaza, leaving around 2 million displaced
00:05 and nearly 24,000 dead, mostly Palestinian women and children. Now, after seemingly weeks of little
00:12 news from the White House on the issue, President Biden says he is attempting to broker a deal
00:16 between the two groups. The negotiations would include the release of all of the Israeli hostages
00:21 still being held in Gaza. However, the president says it will also include a several week ceasefire,
00:26 a welcomed and hopefully first step in ending the war. These negotiations include Israel, Egypt and
00:32 Qatar, with King Abdullah II of Jordan recently visiting the White House to discuss the plan,
00:37 with President Biden saying about the meeting, "As the king and I discussed today, the United
00:42 States is working on a hostage deal between Israel and Hamas, which would bring an immediate and
00:47 sustained period of calm to Gaza for at least six weeks, which we could then take the time to build
00:52 something more enduring." The American president and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu's relationship
00:57 has been strained since the beginning of the aggression into Gaza. Israel continues to target
01:01 areas in which it told Palestinians to flee and has been stubborn when coming to the negotiation table.
