00:00 The president has spoken and made it crystal clear who's in charge of shepherding the very cumbersome and controversial issue of charter change to the finish line.
00:09 Then again, it all boils down to a matter of trust which the Senate has earned more of as we hear the rest from our Daniel Manalastas.
00:17 Senators lauded the recent statements by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. about the economic charter change which he directed the Senate to take the lead.
00:29 We will do everything to be transparent and of course we talked about the economic provisions so it won't be controversial.
00:37 We will protect our left constitution and we'll make sure that we'll go through the process.
00:46 I think it's clear and we thank the president for clarifying it. It's clear that he trusts the Senate.
00:54 However, a number of senators maintain the voting by the two houses of congress should be done separately as the house is also scheduled to tackle the economic charter change.
01:05 We are very supportive but not with the RMBH 7 which says that we have to vote jointly. We have to vote separately because the essence of bicameralism will not be enforced.
01:22 In light also of the heated exchanges between the two houses of congress, some senators believe it's time to put this to rest after the president's statement.
01:33 It should be done. It's important that we do our job now because this fight will not end.
01:43 Senator JV Ejercito said had the house honored the first pact, there would have been no squabbling or hostilities between them.
01:52 While for Senator Bong Revilla, there's nothing wrong if the house and the senate simultaneously tackle the proposed amendments to the constitution.
02:00 And the sooner they conclude, the better for the Filipinos.
02:04 Daniel Manalastas from the National TV Network for a new and better republic.
