'Mayhem' that is how the Secretary General of the Communications Workers Union Joanne Ogeer describes the remarks made by the former CEO of TSTT Lisa Agard and the former CFO Shiva Ramnarine at the Parliament's Joint Select Committee on State Enterprises on Monday, surrounding the events of last October cyber-attack on state-owned TSTT.

Sharla Kistow has the details from a CWU news conference hosted on Wednesday.

00:00 We're in an organization as its head. It is heard that documents in this case
00:06 communicate that can potentially reach the minister and then be disseminated to
00:12 the Parliament not seen and approved by a CEO. The question begs, when this was
00:19 finally brought to Miss Agard's attention as the sitting CEO, what did
00:24 she do having the power to hire and fire? What did she do? Questions posed by the
00:30 CWU Secretary General Joanne Ojiro during a media conference. She asked that the
00:35 union is surprised to hear former Chief Financial Officer Shiva Rabnarang
00:40 under whose leadership a lot of people were retrenched making mention of the
00:45 forensic audit during a GST meeting on Monday. While the former CFO is
00:50 pointificating about his fiscal prowess, it was under his stewardship he made the
00:56 tough decisions to cannibalize TSTT, ably supported by the former CEO. They
01:03 stripped the organization of invaluable institutional knowledge. They played key
01:08 roles, these workers who were sent home in 2018 and 2022. The Secretary General
01:15 is calling on the Prime Minister to do what needs to be done to salvage the
01:19 situation, saying collective responsibility is real and if the Board
01:23 of Directors urge, then they should be removed. If the General Manager of
01:28 Operations and Administration together with the newbie Kamal Georges prepared a
01:34 communique and did not substantiate the information before getting approval as
01:40 it is alleged by the former CEO, which may have misinformed the Minister, then
01:46 they too should be removed. According to Oguir, the government of Trinidad and
01:52 Tobago needs to pay more attention to the management and mismanagement of TSTT.
01:57 The union is asking the Minister of Public Utilities Marvin Gonzalez to share
02:02 the report he received from TSTT on the cyber attack with the general public.
02:06 Furthermore, the CWU wants the Board of Directors to explain its approval of a
02:12 five-year strategic plan of over three billion dollars and investment in the
02:18 OneNetwork in 2016, which expires in 2025.
