00:00 And when I got the result, this was a really traumatic talking and worst time of my life.
00:09 It shattered the world.
00:12 So basically, I was caught quite early in time and I got a very short breast treatment,
00:22 which was quite safe.
00:24 So I'm lucky.
00:27 I feel normal and I'm a living example of good life now.
00:33 March marks Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
00:36 According to new research, nearly 8 out of 10 men initially choose to stay silent about their symptoms of prostate cancer.
00:42 Research also revealed that 71% of men admit to feeling embarrassed by the typical warning signs of the illness.
00:49 Now, TV presenter Nick Owen has launched a podcast encouraging men to talk about prostate cancer and its symptoms.
00:56 In the podcast, the TV host is joined by former NHS doctor Kanti Patel to share their experiences of having prostate cancer.
01:04 So, it was very nice to talk to Nick and we became good friends.
01:12 And what I like about Nick, he has now got a nice, quiet word.
01:17 He got prostate pals.
01:20 We have become a prostate pals now.
01:23 And we know now that treatment-wise, this is a better treatment.
01:28 So hopefully people can come forward quickly and get better treatment early.
01:36 Men often don't come for any sort of treatment really.
01:43 The wife often brings them to the doctor.
01:46 If they get any symptoms, abnormal symptoms, like frequency of passing urine more, or pain, or passing wee more, or getting up more often at night time.
01:58 Even if you don't have any prostate cancer history, you must see the doctor.
02:05 And if you have a family history of prostate cancer, then you must be concerned and seek help from the doctor.
02:12 But this is a very unfortunate thing that men don't come forward.
02:19 It was reported that only 2% of men are aware of the SWIFT treatment timeline for prostate cancer.
02:26 With fear playing a significant role in silence, 39% of men reportedly opted to keeping symptoms hidden to avoid worrying loved ones.
02:35 Because men will come to seek the help earlier and you'll be able to save their life.
02:42 Men often find it so difficult.
02:45 And if they can find a convenient place where they can confide in somebody, whether it's playing football, golf, or cricket, or walking.
03:00 if they can just talk and open up.
