00:00 So a series then of explosions over the skies and on the ground around Kiev as
00:04 Russia has launched the first missile attack on Ukraine's capital in recent
00:08 weeks. At least eight people injured as residential and industrial buildings
00:13 were damaged. Air defence units in full action trying to repel the attack with
00:17 debris from intercepted missiles also falling in different parts of the city.
00:21 The country's Air Force saying two ballistic and 29 cruise missiles were
00:26 all shot down before they reached their targets. We're going to cross then
00:29 to Kiev. Talk to our Ukraine correspondent Gulliver Craig who joins
00:33 us from there. Gulliver first of all then bring us up to date with these
00:37 overnight attacks can you? Well according to the Kiev City Hall the number of
00:44 injured people is 13 actually it stands out but only two of them have had to be
00:49 hospitalised no one was killed so you know relatively good result for the air
00:56 defences especially as they're claiming to have shot down all of the missiles
00:59 that targeted the Ukrainian capital. I'm not an expert though I have been here
01:05 for two years you know hearing these explosions it sounded very much to me
01:10 like one of the explosions I heard was a direct hit from my personal point of
01:15 view it was the loudest it's ever been I mean that's just anecdotally just
01:19 happens to be that it was closer to where I live but it was very very loud
01:23 indeed our building shook and we heard what very much sounded like an impact
01:28 there are some industrial zones not far away from where I live near the Dnipro
01:33 River but the authorities are saying that it was only fragments that fell and
01:37 that although there was some damage to property and particularly to cars there
01:43 were only these 13 injured and two of them seriously but this is the first
01:48 attack in 44 days and a very very concerted one with more than 30 missiles
01:54 being fired and some of them these hypersonic Kinzhal missiles that are
01:59 very hard to shoot down except with the Patriot air defence systems that have
02:05 been supplied to Ukraine by the United States
