00:12The ICC's chief prosecutor Karim Khan said there were reasonable grounds to believe that
00:17Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant bore criminal responsibility for alleged war
00:22crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
00:26The court is also looking into the possibility of issuing arrest warrants for three senior
00:31Hamas leaders on similar charges.
00:47In a written statement, U.S. President Joe Biden called the decision outrageous and said
00:51there was no equivalence between Israel and Hamas.
00:55The State Department said the ICC has no jurisdiction to investigate this case as Israel is not
01:01a signatory to the Rome statute that founded the court.
01:06This decision does nothing to help and could jeopardize ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire
01:10agreement that would get hostages out of Gaza and surge humanitarian assistance in.
01:16There was a mixed reaction to the news on the streets of Tel Aviv, the city that's seen
01:20weeks of mass protests, demanding the Netanyahu administration do more to secure the release
01:26of the hostages still being held in Gaza.
01:44And there was a muted response to the ICC announcement among Palestinians in central Gaza.
01:51We want an international decision to settle this matter because we are losing hostages
01:57and we don't have a say in Israel or Hamas.
02:00ICC judges will now examine the evidence and decide whether arrest warrants for the Israeli
02:05and Hamas leadership can be issued.
