00:00My name's Pete Sadler, I'm Group Manager, Group Commander, West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service.
00:04I'm currently the incident commander for this exercise. We are here tonight to perform an
00:10exercise to really support our firefighting strategy around this type of incident.
00:18We have a number of resources on site, we have 30 fire engines plus a number of specialist vehicles
00:24to perform the exercise tonight. This type of exercise is really important for Fire and Rescue
00:28Service, especially us, in that we're testing our tactical plans for buildings such as this
00:33and based on the horrific scenes we saw in France, in Notre Dame,
00:37it then allows us to put into place our procedures to deal with similar type incidents.
00:42Yeah, it's taken a lot of planning by a large team including Fire and Rescue,
00:47including a number of multi-agencies, including railway officers, Sussex Police,
00:53South East Coast Ambulance Services, district councils, highways, a multi-agency response to
01:01this type of incident which we can see all around us and the importance for them to practice this
01:06type of scenario in such a city as we are and I think to stress the thanks from us and all the
01:12other services that are here for all the members of the public that have come out to see us and
01:17it's really reassuring the fact that they are able to see us in place, not only for us to see them
01:22but of course them to see what we can do, heaven forbid, that this type of incident does kick off.
