00:00is recognized. Thank you, Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker, this week tens of thousands of law
00:05enforcement officers from across the country will arrive in Washington for National Police Week.
00:11Created in 1962 through a joint resolution by Congress, National Police Week pays special
00:17recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty
00:21for the safety and protection of others. National Police Week is sponsored by the National
00:26Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and supported by a variety of organizations to honor
00:31the law enforcement community. This week honors the men and women in blue who gave everything to
00:36protect their country and their communities. At a time when our nation is facing a rise in crime
00:42and attacks on police officers, we need to support our law enforcement more than ever. This is why
00:47I'm proud to co-sponsor legislation that memorializes law enforcement officers killed in
00:52the line of duty. I also proudly co-sponsored H.R. 354, the Leosa Reform Act, to expand caring
00:58privileges for off-duty and retired law enforcement officers. Our officers put on their uniforms each
01:04day knowing that they can be in harm's way at any moment. On behalf of a grateful nation, I say
01:09thank you to all of our officers who serve. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, and I yield back the balance of my time.
