00:00 Let's go to Fox.
00:02 Secretary Austin, Victoria Nuland,
00:04 the former acting deputy secretary of state
00:06 who just stepped down, said yesterday on the Sunday shows
00:10 that the administration needs a new Ukraine strategy.
00:14 And she said, quote, "I think if the attacks are coming directly
00:17 from over the line in Russia, that those bases
00:19 ought to be fair game.
00:21 I think it's time to give the Ukrainians more help hitting
00:23 these bases inside Russia."
00:25 Do you agree with her assessment?
00:28 I agree with what the chairman just said, Jennifer.
00:31 And that is that, in my view, their focus
00:35 ought to be on the close fight and making sure
00:38 that they're servicing those targets that will enable
00:43 success in the close fight.
00:46 So we've been that way throughout.
00:50 And that'll be my view going forward.
00:54 And General Brown, is there anything
00:56 NATO can do to help Georgia resist Russian efforts
01:00 to expand their influence?
01:02 How does this affect what's happening in Georgia right now?
01:05 How does it affect Georgia's pathway to NATO?
01:08 Well, we're deeply concerned in watching the influence
01:11 Russia has in Georgia.
01:14 And we'll remain committed to Georgia's sovereignty.
01:18 As I met last week with my NATO counterparts,
01:21 we consistently talk about how we work together
01:24 to the sovereignty of the nations that
01:27 are part of NATO, but also just the overall security
01:30 situation in Europe.
01:31 But will this affect Georgia's admission to NATO
01:34 or pathway to NATO?
01:35 Should they be made--
01:36 I'm not in a policy to making decision points of whether
01:39 or not--
01:40 but from my perspective as a uniformed service member,
01:44 it's about ensuring the security of the various nations,
01:47 but also the security of the citizens of those nations
01:49 as well.
