00:03 - Take for instance, what's going on
00:04 for New York Yankees pitching staff.
00:06 Yes, I sent the New York Yankees pitching staff
00:08 here in the beginning of June
00:09 and we have not one but two so high candidates,
00:12 Joe Pizzoppia.
00:13 - Well, the first one's gonna upset a lot of people.
00:16 So just let me preface this.
00:18 Louis Heal has been great.
00:21 Not good, he has been great.
00:23 He has been everything you wanted
00:25 if you're the Yankees and more.
00:26 He has basically been Garrett Cole
00:28 while Garrett Cole has been out.
00:30 An 11K per nine, 63 innings so far,
00:34 a buck 99 ERA.
00:35 So why am I trying to get rid of him?
00:37 Well, because if you look a little deeper,
00:39 the most amount of innings he's ever pitched
00:42 was 96 back in 2019 at the professional level.
00:45 That's a long time ago and it's not a lot of innings.
00:49 Now he's already above the 60 mark already
00:51 as we just said, 63 innings so far in the year.
00:54 So this is the peak, this is the zenith of Louis Heal.
00:59 And I think it's worth looking at.
01:03 It's worth looking at it and saying,
01:06 what can I get for this guy?
01:08 Because I don't know if you're in a playoff scenario
01:10 in August and September,
01:12 what that structure of his innings look like.
01:14 'Cause the Yankees have designs on the playoffs, right?
01:16 You're gonna want him in the playoffs.
01:18 How do you manage his innings?
01:19 Are you skipping starts?
01:21 Are you limiting him?
01:23 When Garrett Cole comes back,
01:24 does he go to the bullpen for a month?
01:25 Like there's all these questions to ask yourself.
01:28 And there's a lot of unknown.
01:29 I think the most difficult thing
01:30 when you play fantasy baseball
01:31 or even wagering or whatever it is,
01:33 it's very intoxicating to be right.
01:35 If you did your homework and you nailed Louis Heal
01:37 and you knew it and you knew
01:39 you were gonna get a good pitcher and you got him,
01:42 it's very hard to say, okay, now what?
01:44 What does it look like after this?
01:45 Is he gonna continue to pitch to a 199 ERA?
01:47 Probably not.
01:48 Is his walk rate a little high?
01:50 Yeah, it's in the mid four and a half range.
01:51 That's a little high for a walk rate.
01:53 He's also had the benefit of pitching
01:55 against some lesser offenses.
01:56 If you look at the teams that he's pitched against this year
02:00 it's not necessarily the cream of the crop
02:02 of offensive teams.
02:03 He's not facing a lot of offensive juggernauts here.
02:06 Go and look at the game log.
02:07 So there's all those reasons where I think you look at him
02:09 and you say, it's not that I wanna get rid of him.
02:12 It's just, there's uncertainty on the backend
02:14 with this player.
02:15 And then on top of that,
02:16 if you look at the uncertainty of the innings total
02:19 and what it looks like after he crosses a hundred,
02:21 it's gonna get real dicey.
02:22 And if things start to fall off,
02:24 you're missing that point where you are legitimately selling
02:27 at the highest point for a player.
02:29 This is not about keeper and dynasty.
02:31 This is only redraft leagues.
02:33 So I understand this might be a difficult one,
02:35 but it's one I think you have to really
02:36 strongly consider, Matt.
