00:03 - All right, for my Monty Python fans,
00:04 I fought in your general direction.
00:07 Let's talk Brandon Fott here,
00:08 because starting pitching is always gonna be a commodity.
00:11 Is Fott the guy, you smell what he's cooking?
00:14 - It's Fott, just to make sure everybody,
00:17 you know, is hearing it correctly here,
00:20 'cause we're also on the radio as well.
00:22 So I know sometimes the translation is occurring.
00:25 Brandon Fott has been really solid this year.
00:27 Strikeout rate is good.
00:28 In fact, if you look at Brandon Fott's numbers
00:30 and take away the wins and losses next to Shoto Imanaga's,
00:34 'cause it's a practice I just did recently,
00:36 they're not that far off.
00:38 And everyone's like me is talking about Shoto Imanaga
00:40 being this incredible thing.
00:42 The other thing to keep in mind
00:43 when you're looking at Brandon Fott's numbers
00:44 is even though that ERA is still around four,
00:47 the XERA is 286, the FIP is 325, the XFIP is 367.
00:52 So he is in a situation where these numbers
00:57 are even better than you realize.
00:59 And Brandon Fott has been good since the end of last year,
01:02 into the playoffs, and now into 2024.
01:05 So he has turned a corner.
01:07 The Diamondbacks might be struggling,
01:08 but Brandon Fott is not,
01:09 and that ERA is going to continue to come down, down, down.
01:12 The strikeout rate is exactly, you know,
01:14 where you want it to be for him.
01:15 It could be a little bit higher.
01:16 If it's right around nine per nine, that's good.
01:19 We want it to be great.
01:19 But if he's gonna be a better pitcher
01:22 with it being a little lower
01:23 and not trying to strike out the world, I'll take that.
01:25 That to me is the maturation of a young pitcher.
01:28 And eventually that'll come back around.
01:29 I don't wanna spend too much time on this last one.
01:32 Those next one, I should say Pablo Lopez,
01:34 'cause we already talked about that.
01:35 But just to reiterate, Pablo Lopez is a pitcher
01:37 you should be buying everywhere.
01:38 He's had a rough stretch.
01:40 He is much better than he is pitched this year.
01:43 There's another guy too,
01:44 who's better than he's pitched this year.
01:45 And he didn't have an off season properly
01:47 in spring training.
01:49 He came in late and Blake Snell has basically said,
01:51 "Yeah, it definitely has taken its toll on me."
01:54 - So to me, not that I love Blake Snell necessarily
01:58 as a fantasy asset,
01:59 'cause he has been a very erratic, enigmatic one,
02:02 a guy who can win a Cy Young
02:03 and then post a 480RA the next year in multiple times.
02:08 But I feel like on principle,
02:09 you buy Blake Snell for the rest of season.
02:11 What do you think about these principles here?
02:12 Do you buy Blake Snell just simply on the body of work?
02:15 - Of course.
02:16 Yeah, you look at Blake Snell's May as his April,
02:20 look at his June as his May.
02:22 So you figure maybe come July, he starts to get going.
02:25 A thousand percent.
02:27 Lopez and Snell, if you come away from maybe this week
02:31 in some kind of deal where you've acquired one or both,
02:34 you change the entire landscape of your team.
02:37 It's a very long season.
02:38 Joe.
02:39 - It is.
02:40 We're a third of the way through it.
02:41 Only a third, boys and girls.
02:43 Unbelievable.
02:44 But those are some guys to buy low on
02:46 and some big names too.
02:47 Rosarena, Snell, Cy Young, Pablo Lopez.
02:52 I mean, these are some big names,
02:53 big stars available right now
02:54 that can really change the trajectory of your season.
02:57 Take a shot, especially if you're a team
02:59 that's lower in the standings.
03:00 You got nothing to lose to take on these guys
03:03 who are going to eventually play
03:04 to the back of their baseball card.
03:06 You might be able to pull yourself out of the lowest damage.
