00:00Some customers of Manila will receive a return payment in Caloocan and Imus Cavite.
00:06It's a punishment to the water company because of the low quality of the tap water in some places.
00:12Maki Polido learned this.
00:18In the random water sampling of the MWSS Regulatory Office in the last part of 2023,
00:23the Philippine National Standard for Drinking Water did not exceed the supply of Manila's tap water in some parts of Caloocan.
00:30The quality of the tap water in Barangay 63 to Barangay 76 in Caloocan is higher than the allowable limit of coliform content or bacteria from human or animal dung.
00:41Edna's family, who drinks tap water, did not know that there was a problem with the quality of their tap water.
00:48The chlorine is just strong. No one got sick from us. No one vomited.
00:54The MWSS Regulatory Office also investigated the quality of tap water in Siam na Barangay in Imus Cavite.
01:00Residents complained that there was a problem with the color and smell of the water.
01:05According to the MWSS, it was discovered that the chlorine level is low and it kills bacteria.
01:11Because of this, the MWSS Regulatory Office ordered a rebate or to return Manila its tap water when the quality of water in some parts of Caloocan and Imus Cavite is problematic.
01:23If we don't impose penalties, this might happen again.
01:27Or if this will happen again, this will happen more and more.
01:31So if we impose penalties right now, they will learn to be more proactive and to ensure that this will be preventive.
01:42These are isolated cases, according to Manila.
01:45There is a chance that their pipes will be contaminated if there is no water pressure while the maintenance work is being done on their lines.
01:53Quality monitoring. We conducted additional flushing activities.
01:58The MWSS Regulatory Office has a public dialogue with the affected residents next week.
02:04They will say how much rebate will be given by Manila.
02:08It's good because we can reduce our bill on tap water. Especially us, we have a lot of tap water.
