00:29According to the NBI, the suspects were selling their data to the organized criminal groups.
00:37Yesterday, the two hackers were investigated and charged with illegal access, misuse of device, and violation of the Data Privacy Act.
00:44One of the hackers here, what we saw on his device through control viewing, was the user account credentials of the banks.
00:53So we will verify it because this is what our scammers will use for their exploits.
01:00According to the NBI, one of the suspects is a cybersecurity researcher of a big company while the other is a graduating student.
01:07Another one who was arrested is Alias Kangkung, a data security officer of a news website.
01:12The Armed Forces of the Philippines is one of his hackers.
01:15Alias Kangkung said that he is no longer active in illegal hacking activity.
01:19I leaked the AFP database publicly.
01:23So I said, after I leaked it, that's when I realized the severity of the vulnerability, which is what I suspected.
01:28Of course, that's the data of the soldiers.
01:30That's what I didn't realize at that time.
01:32He also hacked the National Security Council, recruitment website of AFP, KVT-LGU, even a medical group.
01:40But he refused to sell the data.
01:42He just wanted to prove to himself that he can access the websites that he is victimizing.
01:47He also convinced Alias Kangkung that a well-known tech editor, Umano, is one of the ones who ordered him to hack.
01:53The editor said that he was given a tip on hacking and vulnerability of some websites that he is writing.
02:00Directly or indirectly, sometimes it depends on what he says.
02:05Sometimes he said, check this, find vulnerabilities.

02:10He accused Manila Bulletin Tech Editor Art Samaniego that he can deny the allegations.

02:28According to Samaniego, he was not the first one to suspect the AFP hacking incident.
02:33He also said that Alias Kangkung was not the hacker.
02:37But Alias Kangkung was the one who gave details on the hacking of Wansan Bayan.
02:42When I found out that there is vulnerability, I immediately called the people I know from Wansan Bayan.

02:51When I found out that they have already fixed it, I wrote it on June 13.
02:55The NBI said that they will issue a subpoena to Samaniego as part of the investigation.
03:01In a statement, Manila Bulletin said that they are violating the law.
03:05They also ordered their employees to follow the law.
03:09They are hoping that their rights will be given to their employees.
03:14Wansan Bayan was happy with the arrest of the person behind the hacking of them,
03:19as well as other government agencies.
03:22They hope that they will be able to pay for the other incidents here.
