00:00The groups of consumers and senior citizens are in charge of the next-to-next incidents of data breach and hacking in the country.
00:07Especially the senior citizens who are often targeted by scammers.
00:12This is the first news of Rafi Tima.
00:18It started with government agencies.
00:20Now, private companies are the next-to-next victims of data breach and hacking.
00:25That's why some consumer groups became DTI.
00:27They are now in charge of the information that can be obtained by hackers.
00:31The sensitive information of our consumers is involved in this.
00:36And it's up to them.
00:38DTI is now cooperating with the National Privacy Commission
00:41to quickly pass the complaints they are receiving related to data breach.
00:4611 million data subjects were obtained from Jollibee Food Corporation
00:49including the name, date of birth, and senior ID of their customers.
00:54In the first statement, Jollibee said
00:56that they are implementing enhanced security measures to protect their company.
01:00They are also conducting an investigation to find out the extent of the incident.
01:05First, the healthcare provider MaxiCare was hit by a data breach
01:08where 13,000 customer records were exposed.
01:11According to MaxiCare, they are now implementing emergency measures
01:14to ensure the privacy of their members.
01:17They are also conducting their own investigation.
01:20The Senior Citizen Party List is now in charge of the incident
01:23especially since the records of senior citizens
01:25who are often targeted by scammers can be accessed.
01:29Because of the incident,
01:30the Senate quickly moved to approve the Anti-Financial Accounts Scamming Act.
01:36The group is a free consumer group
01:38who believes that these attacks were organized.
01:41The fact that it started from government databases
01:44until it reached private sector companies,
01:47our domestic private companies,
01:49it really means that it was orchestrated.
01:52We should expect additional data breaches.
01:58That's why agencies related to data privacy protection
02:02including the DICT, National Privacy Commission,
02:05the Department of Justice, and the National Bureau of Investigation should double their efforts.
02:09But ordinary Filipinos should be prepared for the possible effects of these data breaches.
02:14Scamming incidents should be prioritized using stolen information.
02:18We need to know where we can sign on or log on to our cell phones, mobile applications,
02:24or even to our computers.
02:26We need to know where we can sign on or log on to our personal accounts,
02:31whether it's emails, payment applications, banking transactions, and things like that.
02:37We are asking the National Privacy Commission, DOJ, and NBI to make a statement.
02:42This is the first news.
