00:00Recently, Kamala Harris announced her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Governor
00:04Tim Walz.
00:05However, while he is a beloved politician in his home state, many might not know too
00:10much about him.
00:11He's been portrayed as a sort of everyman, and a financial disclosure filed in Minnesota
00:15in January reveals that seems to be true.
00:18According to that filing, Walz has no direct investment in the stock market, which Insider
00:23reports is just like 80% of Americans.
00:26He also lacks other revenue streams common to politicians, including stakes in businesses
00:31or book deals.
00:32In fact, when he was serving in the House of Representatives, he was even known to sleep
00:36in his office on Capitol Hill, saying about that time, quote, I'm not complaining.
00:41It's just figuring out how to make all your finances work.
00:44And while he was serving in Congress, he put his money, or lack thereof, where his mouth
00:48is.
00:49He sponsored the Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge Act or Stock Act, which disallowed
00:53lawmakers to take part in insider trading and forced them to periodically disclose
00:58their finances.
00:59Walz currently makes just under $150,000 as governor of Minnesota.
