00:00The education ministry has defended its hosting of officials from the Taliban-led Afghanistan
00:07government, saying it was in line with Putrajaya's policy to help the country.
00:11In a statement, the ministry said the government had been prepared to aid Afghanistan in terms
00:16of healthcare and humanitarian assistance.
00:19It added that the right to an education cannot be denied and Malaysia is committed to upholding
00:24the right of women and girls to have access to education.
00:29The ministry was responding to DAP Chairman Lim Guan Eng, who had questioned its decision
00:33to host officials from Afghanistan's education ministry earlier this month, considering the
00:38controversial policies of the Taliban-led government on women's education.
00:45It said it had given the officials an overview of Malaysia's education system, including
00:49the education of women and girls.
00:52According to the ministry, the Afghan delegation had wanted to make Malaysia a point of reference
00:57for best practices in terms of developing education policies, especially on training
01:02and co-curriculum.
